Styrene Monomer

Styrene Monomer - used to dilute unsaturated polyester resins, providing the correct viscosity for application in fiberglass production. The ratio of styrene in resin can be adjusted based on the curing requirements. For example, when working with closed molds or vacuum infusion, a lower viscosity is often preferred, leading to a higher styrene content. Conversely, for hand lay-up or gel coat applications, a thicker resin might be used, which could have a lower styrene content.
